A Reflection on Representation

Pride Month is a time to reflect on and celebrate the LGBTQ+ experience. While doing so, we have the opportunity to advance inclusiveness and authenticity and create a sense of belonging.

A Reflection on Representation

Pride Month is a time to reflect on and celebrate the LGBTQ+ experience. While doing so, we have the opportunity to advance inclusiveness and authenticity and create a sense of belonging.

Each June, we pause to remember the Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969 in New York City and the trailblazers who stood up for human rights, equality, representation, and authenticity. Although our nation has made social and legal progress, more can be done. We are still on a journey of progress in 2022, as LGBTQ+ people in the United States still face barriers to equality. We have the power to change that.

Here are a few actions we can take to support inclusive communities and advance change:

  1. Learn about the financial planning issues specific to the LGBTQ+ community.
  2. Support professional development opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community, recognizing leadership at all levels.
  3. Learn about the impact of using pronouns and consider using these in signature lines or during virtual meetings.
